iWeb and web forms, HOWTO

30 08 2007

I use iWeb for both my personal website, and my company website (for the time being). Last night I decided that I wanted to add one of those forms to my site, you know the ones where you put your name and email and then a message and click send. But I could not figure out how to do this in iWeb, a couple of good forum posts led me to Wufoo.com where you can create your free forms and copy the code. Note that when using this with iWeb you need to click the Web Widgets button and then select HTML widget, and insert the code there. Once you have done this your form is ready to go. Another note is that Wufoo does not automatically notify you of new forms submitted, but you can turn on the option in the settings on Wufoo.com page. Enjoy!

I have a question about how to insert a form into iWeb. What do you mean when you say, “Click the Web Widgets button and then select HTML widget, and insert the code there.” Where is the Web Widgets button in iWeb? I can’t figure out how to insert any html into iWeb. Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

Web widgets are only available in iWeb 08.
They allow you to add HTML as well as youtube videos, google advertising and maps + lots more =]

Another comment asking about forms addition as well:

i have iweb 2.0.2 so not sure what that means but i have created a site for work and i am trying to add a form like the one on the bottom of this site: http://www.rapidpropertybuyers.biz/
Is this possible???

Also i needed to add an online calculation like that on http://www.a-quick-sale.co.uk/benefits/
Is this possible either??

Freaking out as have spend days on it and now worried i can’t add the most important features. If you could help that would just invaluable.

Kindest wishes,
Alethea

You can also create iWeb forms with the assistance of Google Docs and Sprout. Continue here for details on creating forms in iWeb for free.

The adding of forms is very straight forward, I create html code for the form and the Java script for the validation code, then create a php page that the form post to. The PHP page then does all the work Mail to me and my clients.
