Marsedit

25 02 2008

Well I have talked a lot about my switches in the past so I thought I would bring up another one. I had been using (since I started blogging practically) Ecto for posting my blogs. I have always loved it, but recently when I began my Photography blog I found that the newest version was not able to properly post pictures inline like I wanted them.

I do not know if it is because I is a WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog (like this one). But I knew that in order to successfully use the blog and leverage it like I wanted to I had to switch to a blogging client that would work. I knew and had tried Marsedit in the past and thought it time to take another look and see what everyone else is doing.

Lots of Photoshop Plugins

Oh you will not want to miss this link that David Ziser found!

Aperture 2

23 02 2008

I have been using the Aperture 2 trial sense it was released, and it is leaps and bounds better than 1.5.6. The speed is amazing even on this older Macbook Pro that I am rocking (do not get me started on the Mac Pro cause that is just fast with it). Finally there is support for the G9!

The new recovery and definition and vignette filters are very welcome, and have been well used by me thus far. I will be buying this software for sure, and I think that if you are an avid Aperture user it is a well worthwhile upgrade.

At the very least you need to check out the trial.

Webkit Nightly Builds

13 02 2008

Yesterday I caught a post by an individual who has been using the nightly builds of Webkit, the engine that drives Apple’s Safari browser. The post was talking about how Safari is about to get really fast, given the speed of the new builds.

I did not know that you could just download them and use it, they look and feel the same as Safari, use your same bookmarks history and everything. Basically it uses all the preference files from Safari and all the other data, just runs a different engine.

Well yesterday I downloaded and installed it all. I have been using it through today (got the newest version this morning) and have been loving it. I even reset my default web browser to it. There is only one problem that I have encountered the arrows seem to not work in Google Reader. This is not a major problem but the speed is well worth losing that functionality.

Make no mistake, these builds are very Beta, and very fast.

Get it here.
