I’m sorry but what did you do?!

Ok so you may have heard Steven Levy lost his Macbook Air, thinks he may have thrown it away. I do not feel bad, don’t want to be mean, but really? Take better care of your stuff.

Ecto

I use Ecto as my blogging client, and always have. There is something about it that I really like. Up until today I had been using version 2, which is not like me. I would normally have signed up and used version 3 beta right away. For some odd reason I did not do that.

Well Ecto 2.4.2 in Leopard is terribly slow, so much that I thought it may not work. I have been light on posting so it wasn’t bugging me all that much. But today was the last straw. So I upgraded to 3.0b8. So far so good.

Bugs I can deal with. Slow opening of an app I cannot, just makes your computer feel so damned slow when apps don’t launch fast.

My only complaint so far is there is some kind of Server time error I get, and all my posts were gone, I had to redownload them, and that did not fetch all of them, oh well. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Really makes me mad…sometimes. They better give me a new feature.

Parallels on my Macbook Pro w/ Vista

Since my Macbook Pro only has a 100gb HD (7200rpm variety) I decided that I would install Vista only under Parallels, instead of Bootcamp (as I did with my Mac Pro). I based this decision on the fact that I could use an expanding image for Parallels, meaning that Windows would only take up what it needed, I like that very much indeed. I have had it installed now for about a week, and there is only one problem thus far, Windows will not connect to the internet via Airport (w/ Bridged Network connection), but it works just fine with the Ethernet connection.

Frustrating indeed for a laptop user, trust me on that. I have heard that this is a driver issue but I am not really sure what it is, all I know is that it needs to be fixed. The other problem I am having is that when Parallels is running it really bogs my machine, and heats it up like nobodies business.

This is my third blog, and hopefully will last me for sometime. I will try to update this as often as I can. My interests are wide, but in this blog I will focus on the technology environment. Mainly on computing, and how it affects what I do.
